NRF-MOH PhD Scholarship

Aim

This circular invites outstanding final year Basic Specialist Trainees and all Advanced Specialist Trainees, who are  working in the public healthcare institutions, and desire to pursue a PhD in health and medical research, to apply for the NRF – MOH Healthcare Research Scholarships.
 
NRF –  MOH Research Scholarships

To promote clinical and translational research in Singapore, the Research Scholarships aims to equip a select group of Medical Specialist Trainees with the academic qualifications and skills to pursue careers as Clinician Scientists through a structured yet flexible training route. 

Eligibility and Funding Support

Research scholars can choose to pursue their doctoral programme locally or overseas.

Local PhD Programme

The NUS PhD scholarship is open to trainees who are Singapore citizens or foreigners who are committed to take up Singapore citizenship.

Award includes:

  • Salary and tuition fees for the full-time academic study of up to 4 years,
  • Funding of post-doctoral research (subject to the approval of a research proposal),
  • 8 hours of protected time per week for research during the clinical training years.

Overseas PhD Programme

The overseas PhD scholarship is open to Singapore citizens only.

It will only be awarded for areas in which our local institutions do not have the expertise in research to provide the training.

Award includes:

  • Salary, tuition fees, maintenance allowance, return air tickets and insurance for the full-time academic study of up to 4 years,
    (the allowance and insurance will be funded according to prevailing civil service rates and policies)
  • Funding of post-doctoral research (subject to the approval of a research proposal),
  • 8 hours of protected time per week for research during the clinical training years

Application Procedure

Specialist trainees who are interested in applying for the NRF – MOH Healthcare Research Scholarships are required to submit the completed Application Form  (Annex A) in through and endorsed by the Institution’s Head of Department to :
