Tissue Bank - I am a researcher. How do I access tissues?

The STR welcomes collaboration from all researchers who require human tissues in their research. As with all research, you need to have a valid IRB (Institutional Review Board) certificate to show that your research plan is ethically acceptable. You have to decide the number and type of specimens you need and the first thing you do is contact our Assistant Manager, whose contact details are provided. Based on your research needs, we will give you with the contact details of the contributor clinicians who have provided sufficient numbers of the type of specimens you require.  You will need to engage the contributing clinicians as collaborators in your study and offer authorship in any publications that arise from the use of the specimens. Once they are on board, you will submit the ‘Request for Use of Materials’ form, duly completed with the signatures of the contributing clinicians as collaborators. Your application will be routed through the Singhealth Tissue Repository Committee for approval and a result will be communicated to you, usually within 2 weeks if no questions are raised about your application. Once approval is given, our staff will contact you about collection of the material.

Processing cost for tissue withdrawal is $280*per sample (No charge for deposit)

*STR pricing are still under going review, prices are subjected to revision.
